Movima is spoken in and around Santa Ana del Yacuma, a former Jesuit mission in the Bolivian Beni department. The area, covered in savannahs and swamps, is the main cattle-raising region of Bolivia. Most of the land belongs to white cattle owners.
Santa Ana del Yacuma, the center of the Movima-speaking area, is the capital of the Yacuma province. It has a population of approximately 12,000.
