This project is devoted to the multi-media documentation of Bubia and Isubu, two Bantu languages of the South-West Province of Cameroon. The two languages are highly endangered, being spoken by less than 800 and 600 speakers respectively. The project’s task consists in providing an extensive record of the linguistic practices of these two communities whose languages are now fast being replaced by Cameroon Pidgin English, a lingua franca spoken in the whole of the South-West Province. As the two languages do not yet have adequate descriptions, the project also consists in analyzing their respective structures, by providing a thorough description of their phonology, morphology, syntax and pragmatics. Work on these topics has been started in mid-2010.
