Baure

In our documentation project we collect as many audio and video data as possible, from different speakers (age- and gender-wise), including data from semi-speakers. Our data are mainly from Baures, but also from El Carmen and San Joaquín. All data include a transcription and morphosyntactic analysis of the text and a description of the setting. These data are stored and accessible in the DoBeS archive. Transcription languages are English and Spanish. With our data we are also producing dictionaries to be used online. In the field we try to involve the Baure, especially young people, as much with the project as possible. Therefore a number of local assistants have a computer they can transcribe data on, and a recording device for their own data collection. In addition, our team started giving classes to youngsters and children. All material produced within the project have the potential to serve language teachers in the local schools. In Germany there are also temporary student assistants or students absolving an apprenticeship, as well as some voluntaries, who help us go through the collected data, cut videos and keeping an overview.
For our book projects we enjoyed support by interdisciplinary teams, such as students of arts and design from Berlin and Leipzig.
